Despite what the mass of America likes to think... The "1812 Overture" is NOT to celebrate the war between the UK and the US. Like most worldly events, we as Americans have yet again taken something that is not ours and molded nay, covered up its history and rewritten it to our liking.
So here is to you Tzar Alexander II. Although Russia did not win the war. Neither did the french. A staple in history, as the country that finally tamed Napoleon.
